OnlyFans, MYM or another fansite: how do you choose?

I would not choose a creator platform because somebody on TikTok said it pays better.

The platform is only one layer of the business. Your audience, where they already spend money, how you plan to promote, what content you make and how much admin you want can matter more than the logo at the top of the page.

OnlyFans has enormous name recognition. That makes explaining what you do easy, but it also means a crowded creator market. MYM has a strong European presence and a somewhat different mix of subscriptions, private media, private shows and tips. Other fansites can offer different discovery tools, live functions or ways of selling locked media.

The useful first question is not "which site is best?" It is "which site fits the way I actually want to work?"

Start with the audience

A technically excellent platform is useless if the people who want your content do not use it.

If you already have followers, ask where they are actually willing to create an account and pay. If you have no audience, look hard at internal discovery. Does the platform help buyers find new creators, or does it expect you to bring nearly all of the traffic yourself?

That difference can matter more than a few percentage points of platform fee.

Look at the whole money flow

Do not compare one headline percentage and stop there.

Look at what the platform takes from subscriptions, private media, tips, live shows or customs. Check payout timing, minimum payout, banking costs, currency conversion and how chargebacks or refunds are handled.

Platforms can also structure different revenue types differently, which is why "Site A takes X% and Site B takes Y%" can be a pretty poor comparison.

Content rules can decide the answer for you

Different platforms do not allow exactly the same things. Rules around public previews, explicit profile media, third-party performers, consent documentation, AI-generated material and certain themes can vary.

If your whole brand depends on a type of content the platform handles badly, find that out before building a following there.

Privacy and control matter too. What real information is public? Can you use a stage name? How does the site handle blocked users or regions? What happens if the account is suspended? Can you realistically take the audience somewhere else?

That last question is one reason I think the performer brand should always be bigger than the platform.

OnlyFans, MYM and the rest are distribution tools. Useful tools, sometimes extremely profitable tools, but still tools. If people know the stage name and care about the performer, she has a better chance of moving between platforms, adding produced work, physical products, appearances or whatever makes sense later.

If the entire career is "I have an account on this website", you are building on somebody else's land.

Choose the platform that fits the audience and content now, while building the name so you are not trapped there forever.
