Collector Editions
A small selection of my photographic work is released as physical collector editions.
Each work is produced in an edition of five numbered prints + one Artist Proof.
Once the five collector prints have been acquired, that edition is closed. I do not produce additional open editions, alternative collector sizes or later reissues of the same work.
No digital editions are sold.
Each work is produced as an archival pigment fine-art print on museum-grade fine-art paper.
Prints are individually numbered and signed on the reverse and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity identifying the work, year, dimensions and edition number.
The Artist Proof remains outside the numbered edition and is retained by the artist.
Prints are supplied unframed unless otherwise agreed.
The physical dimensions of each work are deliberately chosen by me and form part of the work itself.
They are not simply determined by how large a file can technically be printed.
I generally prefer photographs that make the viewer move closer.
A very large image can dominate a room from several metres away. I am often more interested in the opposite experience.
I want the viewer to approach.
To notice skin, expression, imperfection, ambiguity and small details from an almost uncomfortably intimate distance.
Some images become stronger when they cannot be consumed from across the room.
For that reason, each work has one fixed collector size chosen for both technical and artistic reasons.
Custom enlargements are not offered.

Two bodies become a study in difference.
Age, skin, sex, shape and physical history exist beside each other without explanation. The intimacy is obvious. Perhaps more interesting is the viewer's instinct to compare them, categorise them and decide what supposedly belongs together.

Four people stripped of faces, clothing, status and most of the clues we normally use to understand one another.
What remains is simply the human body.
And almost immediately, we begin sorting them again.
Young and old. Male and female. Attractive and unattractive. Similar and different.
Perhaps classification says as much about the viewer as the people being observed.

Two people reduced almost clinically to profile, anatomy and generation.
Their differences are immediate.
Their relationship is not.
The image leaves the viewer to construct everything that happened before and everything that might happen afterwards.

A human figure seen through wet glass becomes less a subject than a secret.
We remain outside.
Looking in.
Never entirely certain whether we were invited to watch.

An ordinary private ritual becomes a study of skin, identity and difference.
The body carries something visibly unusual, yet the action itself is completely mundane.
The tension exists largely in our need to decide what is normal, what is different and why either should matter.

The body disappears into water until the face becomes the only fixed point.
A few centimetres separate air from water, control from surrender and calmness from vulnerability.

Blood on hands.
A body deliberately left outside focus.
Almost no explanation.
The photograph refuses to tell the viewer what happened and instead leaves us with the uncomfortable task of constructing the story ourselves.

The same moment contains two different stories.
For the observer there is the unsettling position of the captor. Something beautiful, exposed and vulnerable has been found and is now completely within view.
For Lisel there is exposure, uncertainty and the shock of being the one observed.
The meaning changes depending on which side of the hole you imagine yourself standing.

Sex in daylight, stripped of glamour, euphemism and conventional pornographic theatre.
The act itself is ordinary.
What changes when the camera refuses to turn away?
Perhaps vulgarity sometimes begins not with what human beings do, but with what we have collectively decided should remain unseen.

Every collector print is marked on the reverse with:
A corresponding Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each work.
